Pantry cooking .... granola bars
In keeping with the pantry cooking theme and looking for frugal ideas I found this awesome recipe for granola bars.
I have tried several and was often disappointed, but this one has been a big hit with everyone in my family.
Ingredients
4 1/2 cups oats (I only had 4 cups)
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup softened butter
1 cup honey
2 cups pantry leftover addins ( I use chopped chocolate chips, dried dates, chopped nuts, coconut and a powder called PB2 with chocolate)
cream together the butter and honey.
add in the rest of the ingredients except for the addins and mix well
stir in the addins,
butter a 9x13 pan and press the mixture into it. Make sure you press it in firmly.
bake at 325 for 18-25 minutes
when it browns on the edges it is done. Let it FULLY cool in the pan before you cut and enjoy it.
