frugal:
economical in use or expenditure; prudently saving or sparing; not wasteful
I have heard the fear in people voices when you say the word, frugal, save or economical. Some feel this means no new clothes, no big screen tv's and meals consisting of salads and sprouts.
I have found that saving can also mean that if you are shopping for an item buying the best quality you can afford. Why buy a bag of 12 socks for 12$ if they rip and become dust rags in 12 days. Perhaps it would be more frugal to buy 6 pairs for 12$ and only need to replace them every several months. Your "frugal" socks will cost about $240 a year and the "expensive" socks, if replaced every other month would be $72.00.
Each week I will find several new frugal ways to save money or to make your stuff last longer. I will need your help!! How do you reuse items, do you clean green AND save money!
In combination with our coupons there is a wonderful idea a friend of mine uses and that is a Price Book. Write the prices of items you use most (retail) and so when you see an item on sale you will know if it is truly a sale or just a SALE SIGN, on an item.
